Matthew Gaul, an architect with international integrated design firm DLR Group, is passionate about advocacy for people, places, and the laws that shape them. While primarily involved in K-12 and higher education projects at the moment, he has worked on everything from residential remodels and retail, to workplaces and a chapel for a Jesuit community. He is driven by the desire to help others succeed in their lives and in their pursuits.
An Iowa native looking to broaden his perspective and understanding, Matthew spent the first four years of his career working in San Francisco. While in California he earned his license, joined and eventually lead the American Institute of Architects (AIA) San Francisco Emerging Professionals Committee, was elected to the chapter board, and served as a committee member of Equity by Design. Since moving back to Iowa he’s become active in AIA Iowa’s Government Affairs Committee and the Pleasant Hill Public Arts Advisory Commission. In every role Matthew is keen to listen to every stake holder, work with every constraint, opportunity, and participant, and deliver. He practices mentorship, leadership, strategic planning, and personally represents to further the groups, causes, and projects he is a part of. |
